Una cita realment excepcional

World Federation of Engineering Organisations WFEO i Càtedra UPC-ENDESA de valors humans a l´enginyeria Victoriano Muñoz Oms VMO preparen per al 5, 6 i 7 de març, a Barcelona, una cita excepcional: la Conferència Internacional sobre Ètica i Valors Humans en Enginyeria. És excepcional pels temes, actuals i de futur, transcendents dintre de la professió i tant o més fora d´ella. Dues raons més donen excepcionalitat: organitzadors i conferenciants.

WFEO és la major associació d'enginyers del món. Agrupa unes cent entitats nacionals; rere hi ha més de quinze milions d'enginyers. Té la seva seu central a París, a les dependències d´UNESCO. Des que es fundà ha propiciat una enginyeria a favor de la pau i del benestar, promovent intercanvis i cooperació. Aposta avui per un desenvolupament humà sostenible, i vetlla per a que es reconegui el paper de l'enginyeria en el món actual i futur. El seu associat, la càtedra d'empresa VMO és model de connexió fructífera entre universitat i teixit empresarial, amb l´incentiu que una firma, ENDESA, recolzi un vessant transversal més enllà dels seus específics interessos tecnològics: els valors humans a l'enginyeria.

Els conferenciants són de luxe. Es compta amb presidents de la federació mundial, entre ells el precedent, que ho fou fins novembre, el present i la futura presidenta, espanyola i primera dona amb aquesta alta representació. On es podrà obtenir millor un panorama global de l'enginyeria en el món, que amb la crònica viva dels qui han ocupat, ocupen i es preparen per ocupar observatoris privilegiats de la realitat? Intervindràn presidents o expresidents de consells per branques de l'enginyeria o regions. Ells podran donar llums complementàries, facilitant una rica perspectiva multicolor. I hi haurà molt més.

Una cita realmente excepcional

World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO) y Cátedra UPC-ENDESA Victoriano Muñoz Oms (VMO) -Valores Humanos en la Ingeniería preparan en España una cita excepcional. Lo es por los temas, de hoy y de siempre, trascendentes dentro de la profesión y tanto o más fuera de ella. Dos razones más, de peso, justifican la excepcionalidad: las entidades organizadoras y los conferenciantes invitados.

WFEO es la mayor asociación de ingenieros del mundo. Agrupa unas cien entidades nacionales; detrás hay más de quince millones de ingenieros. Tiene su sede en dependencias de UNESCO. Los conferenciantes son de lujo. A really exceptional event

The World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO) and the UPC - ENDESA Victoriano Muñoz Oms Chair on Human Values in Engineering (VMO) prepare the" International Conference on Ethics and Human Values in Engineering". Why is it a really exceptional event? Most importantly it is exceptional for the subjects that will be discussed, current and permanent themes of undoubted transcendence not only in the profession but so much or more for the whole society. But there are two other significant reasons that justify the exceptionality: the organizing entities and the invited lecturers.

The "World Federation of Engineering Organisations" is the senior association of engineers of the world. It gathers approximately a hundred national entities; behind them are more than fifteen million engineers. Generated under the auspices of UNESCO, its central headquarters are in the buildings of this U.N. organization in Paris. Since its foundation, WFEO has supported the role of engineering in favour of peace and people's well-being, promoting international exchanges and cooperation. Today WFEO believes in a strong commitment of engineering, in order to obtain a sustainable human development, and contributes to achieve that the society recognizes the role that corresponds to engineering in the present and future world.

Its associate, the Chair Victoriano Muñoz Oms, as a company chair, constitutes a clear model of fruitful connection between the university and the entrepreneurial sector, with an incentive: the sponsor, in this case ENDESA, dedicates its support to backing up a transversal aspect that goes beyond its specific technological interests, such as the human values in engineering.

The lecturers constitute a first class panel. The Conference will receive four presidents of the world-wide federation, among them the former president -who has recently finished his mandate-, the present and the future president -chosen at the end of last year-, the first woman to reach such a high representation. The Conference will offer a global panorama of engineering in the world, a living image directly reported by those in a privileged observatory of the reality.

There will be also high rank representatives of several branches of engineering from different regions. They will give a complementary and direct view of different regions of the world. This will facilitate the access to a rich and multicolour panorama. And there will be much, much more…
