Social Programme

SOCIAL PROGRAMME (150 Euro)

The Conference Social Programme includes a Reception Cocktail and a Dinner (The Social Programme is not included in the reduced student fee).

Reception

The Reception is scheduled on Tuesday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. It will take place at the Nomikos Conference Center.

Dinner- Santorinian Evening

The Conference dinner will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 8:00 p.m., at the Antoniou Winery. Buses will depart from Santorini Palace Hotel at 7:30 p.m.


ACCOMPANYING PERSONS PROGRAMME: (60 Euro)

The Accompanying Persons Programme features a number of guided tours in and around the island of Santorini.

Wednesday: Archeological Excursion (10:30-16:30)

Visit of the Historical Monastery of Profitis Ilias on the top of the mountain, which was founded at the beginning of the 18th century. Tour guided in the archeological site of Akrotiri where the volcanic materials from the volcanic eruption have covered and protected the prehistoric city exactly as it has happened in Pompeii. Afterwards you will have time for swimming and lunch in the unique black beach of Perissa. On our return we will stop at a local winery where you will have the chance to taste many kinds of the famous Santorini wines.

Thursday: The tour of Caldera (10:45-16:15)

We leave the old port of Fira with the unique glass bottom boat "Kalypso", visit of the active craters of the volcano on the top of the island if Nea Kameni where the eruption is dated about 1700. Swimming in the hot Springs of the Island of Palea Kameni. Free time for a rest, lunch, swimming or a visit of a traditional village called Manola in Thirassia Island, watching the magic reef Haviara.

Friday: Sunset in Ia (14:30 return after the sunset)

Visit of the Byzantine Church Panagia Episkopi (it was founded in the 11th century A.D. by the Byzantine Emperor Alexios A Komninos). Climbing to the Byzantine castle in the village of Pyrgos, we will stop at the Venetian castle of Skaros in Imerovigli village and our final destination of the excursion is the traditional settlement of Ia. In Ia you can admire the magic of a dreaming sunset.
