| 1998 4th World Congress on Computational Mechanics – WCCM IV June 29 – July 2, Buenos Aires, Argentina Each new event is a challenge, but nothing compares with the responsibility of organizing a world congress, especially if abroad. This congress attracted some 1300 people of all over the world. |

| 2000 III European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering - ECCOMAS 2000 11 - 14 September 2000, Barcelona, Spain The first two ECCOMAS Congresses had been held in Brussels (1992) and Paris (1996). The growing importance of the research and applications of computational methods was demonstrated by the fact that the number of papers presented increased from some 500 papers in Brussels to over 1058 papers in Barcelona. The congress hosted over 1100 participants. |

| 2002 The International Federation of Automatic Control 15th World Congress - IFAC b02 July 21-26, 2002, Barcelona, Spain IFAC b02, in the summer of 2002, was a real challenge. The answer to the call for abstracts was overwhelming (over 3000 submissions). In the end about 2200 presentations where scheduled, and a large exhibition was run in parallel, all of it in the premises of the Campus Nord of the Technical University of Catalonia. |

| 2005 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation - ICRA 2005 April 18 – 22, Barcelona, Spain ICRA 2005, in the Palau de Congressos de Barcelona, hosted over 1500 attendees. We closed the Conference with a huge “paella”, in the “Cervantes” park right in front of the Conference venue. |

| 2007 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium - IGARSS 2007 23 – 27 July 2007, Barcelona, Spain The theme of the symposium -"Sensing and Understanding our Planet"- suggested what remote sensing scientific activity should ultimately achieve: Information gathered by all sensors and techniques must be wisely used mainly to understand our Earth and to improve prediction of natural disasters or global climate change, and provide tools to prevent their consequences. Hosted at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB), it attracted some 1600 participants coming from 59 countries. |

| 2008 8th World Congress on Computational Mechanics - WCCM8 in conjunction with the 5thEuropean Congress con Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering - ECCOMAS 2008 30 June - 4 July 2008, Lido Island, Venice,Italy For the first time, both the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM) and the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) organized their congress in conjunction. Over 3000 people attended the largest congress these Associations had ever organized. |

| 2014 IACM and ECCOMAS Joint Organization of 11th World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM XI) 5th European Conference on Computational Mechanics (ECCM V) 6th European Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics (ECFD VI) 20-25 July 2014, Barcelona, Spain The congress was hosted at the Congress Complex constituted by the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos and the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya. Sixty three countries were represented by over 3600 participants. The scientific program scheduled 3152 presentations, in 543 technical sessions (48 parallel rooms). This is, so far, the largest congress in the Computational Methods community history. |
